Give the Indians credit. They have added Ubaldo Jimenez, Kosuke Fukudome and now Jim Thome in an attempt to make a run at the AL Central title.

But can they do it? They entered the weekend 6 1/2 games behind the Tigers heading into the final month of the season.

On Wednesday, Cleveland lost 9-2 to Seattle and fell below .500 for the first time since April 3. The Indians were once 15 games over .500.

Last weekend, Cleveland trailed the Tigers by just 1 1/2 games.

"I still feel we've got a good streak left in us," Indians manager Manny Acta said. "The last week we just didn't pitch very well, and that has been our strength the whole season."
