Leaders: John Huston, Peter Senior

Round 1 co-leader John Huston is still tied at the top. But his co-leader now is Peter Senior, who was one back of Huston and Jay Haas to start Saturday. Senior shot a 5-under 67 to get to 12 under for the tournament. His co-leader from Round 1, Jay Haas, is alone at 11 under after a 69 on a Saturday that included a nearly two-hour delay for bad weather. Tom Lehman and Mark Calcavecchia are 10 under following rounds that could have been much better for each of them. Lehman made three bogeys after a clean scorecard on Friday. Calcavecchia missed four putts from 4 feet.

It played as the third-easiest hole Saturday, and two players found it especially fun. Jay Don Blake rolled in a 20-footer for eagle two groups before Hal Sutton again got the gallery on its feet with an eagle of his own.

Up and down with Bob Gilder

The 60-year-old won six times on the PGA Tour and has added another 10 victories on the Champions Tour, including the Principal Charity Classic in Des Moines earlier this summer. But he's best known for longevity. Gilder's streak of 178 events played for which he was eligible came to an end after his win in Iowa. Gilder, though, still has played in a record 52 consecutive Champions Tour major tournaments.

Q Welcome back to the Midwest, a place you've played well lately.

A And I really hadn't been playing well up until then. But my shots had been getting better, and it kind of all culminated with that win. It came at a really good time.

Q And then you went on a European vacation.

A We had that planned since last fall. It was great. [The streak] meant nothing to me, and I probably would have still had it, but they told me we were going to be off that week and then they scheduled one in there at Rock Barn. And I had to miss it. No big deal.

Q But you still have the streak of 52 majors.

A Really? That's the first I've heard of that one. Again, it doesn't matter. I need to hit better shots again. I have to get better when the grounds are wet.

Q So Saturday didn't suit you?

A This is very difficult. I had some funky ones. I'm more of a gouger than a sweeper. And it makes a difference on this wet stuff. You lose a little bit of control.
