The Vikings have reached an agreement on a three-year contract with wide receiver Michael Jenkins, according to an NFL source.

Jenkins, 29, the Falcons' first-round pick in 2004, had a single-season career-high in receptions with 53 in 2007, a high in yardage with 777 in 2008 and a high in touchdowns with seven in 2006. Last season, he had 41 catches for 505 yards and two touchdowns in only 11 games.

In seven seasons with the Falcons, he caught 276 passes for 3,512 yards and 20 touchdowns. Atlanta took Julio Jones in the first round in April and Jenkins was released this week.

Jenkins is 6-foot-4, 217-pounds, giving the Vikings the type of target they were looking for after Sidney Rice (6-4, 202) agreed to a five-year, free-agent deal with the Seahawks this week. The Vikings also had been trying to sign Packers free agent James Jones and that was believed to be close to happening at one point. However, the New York Jets reportedly also got involved and at this point Jones has not signed.

Braylon Edwards (Jets) and Malcom Floyd (San Diego) also were on the Vikings radar at one point.

Adding Jenkins makes sense given his familiarity with new offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave. Musgrave had been the quarterbacks coach in Atlanta the past five years and will bring much of what the Falcons did offensively to Minnesota.

Meanwhile, it continues to appear as if wide receiver Bernard Berrian's spot on the roster is safe, despite speculation the Vikings might part ways with him. Unless his contract is adjusted, Berrian will have a salary cap number of $6.258 mllion for this seeason.

"Great discussion with Rick Spielman [the Vikings vice president of player personnel] and Bill Musgrave today," Berrian tweeted Saturday. "Really and truly excited bout this upcoming season and where this offense is."

The Vikings also agreed to terms on a contract earlier this week with free agent wide receiver Devin Aromashodu, who had been with Chicago. That signing has not been made official yet but Vikings coach Leslie Frazier said Friday night that Aromashodu had agreed to terms.

Draft picks start to agree

Second-round tight end Kyle Rudolph, sixth-round center Brandon Fusco and seventh-round defensive end D'Andre Reed all agreed to terms with the Vikings on Saturday. Sixth-round linebacker Ross Homan could sign Sunday morning.
