Thundercats, ho!

Maybe the heat's getting to us, but we're strangely excited about "Thundercats," a slick Japanimation reboot of the cheesy 1980s series. It starts with an hourlong special Friday (7 p.m., Cartoon Network). Marvel superguys "Iron Man" and "Wolverine" also get an anime makeover in two new series (10 and 10:30 p.m., G4 channel) -- and they're voiced by former "Heroes" Milo Ventimiglia and Adrian Pasdar.

X marks the spot

Skateboarders, motocrossers and BMX bandits will twist and soar as the 17th annual "X Games" continue through Sunday from Los Angeles on ESPN and ESPN2. Friday night, Jake Brown defends his gold medal in the Skateboarding Big Air finals, as skaters launch themselves from a 90-foot-tall ramp (8:30 p.m., ESPN).

Pound foolish

Plus-sized comic John Pinette tackles arugula and other not-so-weighty topics in "Still Hungry," a new standup special (10 p.m., Comedy Central).
