Capitol leaders abruptly concluded their third straight day of talks Sunday afternoon after meeting for just over an hour.

Neither the governor nor legislative leaders explained the sudden end in discussions. Staff simply said that "talks concluded for the day."

Since DFL Gov. Mark Dayton and Republican legislative leaders began an intense stretch of budget talks they've donned what a staffer called a "cone of silence" and have shared few details of the nature of their discussions. But previously however they jointly shared when they would return to their attempts to agree on a budget. If they can't agree, government will shutdown on July 1. The sudden end of negotiations left a mystery at a time when Minnesotans, considering what they would do if the services they depend upon, are anxious to find out what will happen.
