Unbelievable 3-2 overtime victory for the Houston Aeros tonight down in Houston to take a 3-2 series lead on the Milwaukee Admirals.

Robbie Earl, who sparked a waning-minutes rally with a goal with 4:22 left in regulation, scored his second of the game 8:45 into overtime to pull Houston through.

The Aeros can eliminate Milwaukee on Sunday in a 5 o'clock Mother's Day Game.

The Aeros dominated, outshooting the Admirals 53-25. But until late, Jeremy Smith was committing highway robbery.

But Earl cut the deficit in half on a power play, then Chad Rau, who played out of his mind all night, tied the score with 1:21 left on his ninth shot of the night. Patrick O'Sullivan had an assist and 12 shots. Casey Wellman had two assists.

So somehow, the Aeros pulled out of the doldrums to snag a game they undoubtedly deserved to begin with. They can end the series Sunday. If necessary, Game 7 is in Milwaukee on Tuesday.

An update from today's earlier blog, but the Czech Republic beat Slovakia 3-2 behind Martin Havlat's one goal and one assist and Marek Zidlicky's one goal.

Lastly, check out this shootout goal by Mikael Granlund. The goal is against Germany's Dennis Endras, who could be playing for the Wild or Aeros next season.a
