SARASOTA, FLA. -- Justin Morneau wanted a chance to play under the lights, so he's on the trip with the Twins for tonight's game against the Orioles.

Manager Ron Gardenhire chuckled about this Thursday. Now that the clocks have been moved ahead, it stays light here past 7:30 (Eastern), so Morneau will have to play a while to see those lights.

Francisco Liriano will be on the mound for the Twins. On Sunday against the Phillies, Liriano's line was: 3 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 2 K. He was less erratic than he was earlier this spring, but the Twins would like to see him closer to regular-season form tonight.

Update: Michael Cuddyer still is not at the point where he's ready to turn and cut at full speed with his left foot, and Gardenhire doesn't know when he'll be ready for game action.

"They're trying to put something in his shoe to kind of soften the pounding a little bit, and nothing's worked yet," Gardenhire said.

Cuddyer had a wart surgically removed from his left foot on March 1.

Asked how concerned he was about Cuddyer being ready for the season, Gardenhire said, "You'd love to see him on the field, but I still don't have any answers for you as for how long it's going to take, how many at-bats [to get his timing back].

"Still gotta get him to where he can run, and then we'll worry about the other part. No one's more frustrated than Michael. Not a lot I can do about it, and I can't really gauge anything until we get him out there.

"He could get out there the first three or four [exhibition] games, find a good feel and start swinging it. Really differs from person to person."

* Gardenhire said Joe Mauer is still scheduled to catch in Saturday's game against the Rays.

* The Twins sent Matt Brown to minor-league camp today and will make more cuts tomorrow.
