Four-year-old Jonny peered into a bucket attached to a sugar maple to collect syrup. He along with his family were on a walk with volunteer John Probst who was explaining the process of collecting maple syrup at Elm Creek Park Reserve in Maple Grove.

If it's March, it's maple syrup time at Elm Creek Park Reserve in Maple Grove. Volunteers are drilling holes in the sugar maples along the park trails in hopes of filling a bucket with the slow-moving sap by the end of the month. On Sunday, volunteer John Probst led families, including this 4-year-old park visitor, through the woods, pointing out the "belly button" markings left on the trees from last year's tapping.
