Think this is a big chance for the Twins to gain ground in the playoff race? Think again. The Indians won all five meetings earlier this season, which could indicate what will happen to the Twins over the next 13 games between the clubs. ... The Twins have suffered plenty of bad losses at Jacobs Field over the years, including a 15-7 loss earlier this season. ... Matt Garza has never pitched at Jacobs Field. Boof Bonser gave up three runs in 52/3 innings in his only appearance there last season.


The Indians entered Thursday 14 games better than they were at the same point last season. ... C.C. Sabathia has 92 career wins, the most of any current pitcher under 28. ...
