A Mexican national who has been deported at least three times since being convicted in Ramsey County of sexual assaulting a 12-year-old girl was again found in the United States and jailed after traffic infractions, federal authorities said.

Juan Dominguez-Soriano, 35, of Little Canada was being held in the Carver County jail Friday at the direction of immigration officials on a charge of illegal reentry into the United States.

Dominguez-Soriano was picked up Feb. 6 for failing to provide a driver's license and proof of insurance, according to the U.S. attorney's office for Minnesota.

Dominguez-Soriano was convicted in October 1994, when he was 19, for second-degree criminal sexual conduct in St. Paul for assaulting the girl. He began serving a 21-month sentence in February 1995, earning three months' credit for time already served in jail, according to prison records.

He earned another eight months of "good behavior" credit and was released from St. Cloud prison on Jan. 12, 1996, then deported 11 days later to Mexico, court records show.

Thursday's indictment, which lists four aliases for Dominguez-Soriano, said he also was deported in 1997 and 2003.

If convicted of the latest charge, he faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison.
