A gripping record of frantic disbelief

Operator: 911

Caller: They need watercraft! There are cars in the water and people sinking.

Operator: We know. There are people on the way.

Operator: 911. Do you have an emergency?

Caller: Everything you've got! The whole bridge over the river fell down. There's cars all over the place.

Operator: Where, sir?

Caller: 35W over the Mississippi down by the U. The, what what road is that? It's the -- there's hundreds of cars, they're in the river. Bring everything you've got!

Caller: I'm on the bridge that collapsed. I'm in the car, there's people out here. I've got the door open but I'm not moving because my back is in a lot of pain right now.

Operator: You're on main street, right?

Caller: I don't know. 35W. The bridge collapsed.

Operator: All right, hang on here.
