Steven Rosenstone, the just-picked to-be chancellor of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities, said that he was a contender for president of the state's other public higher ed system -- the University of Minnesota, where he's a vice president.

"I was under consideration," he told reporters Wednesday.

At the time, some had speculated that he might be a "probable inside choice."

However, while he might have been scoped out by the U's search committee, he was not one of the four semi-finalists. All four were from outside the U.
