Frazier: There's a chance Favre plays

DETROIT -- The Vikings plan to get Brett Favre on the field late this afternoon at Ford Field and have the quarterback test his sprained throwing shoulder. If the results are not favorable, Favre's NFL-record starting streak could end at 297 regular-season games and 321 games overall, including playoffs.

Favre has told some, including a USA Today reporter, that he doesn't think he will be able tonight against the New York Giants. Vikings interim coach Leslie Frazier said in a text message this morning that "there's a chance [Favre will play] because he's Brett, but he still has pain. We will see."

Favre sprained the sternoclavicular joint in his throwing shoulder a week ago Sunday against Buffalo and is listed as questionable for this game. The pain in his shoulder comes when he attempts to follow through on a pass.

As I said on Twitter on Sunday night, until Favre physically is not on the field for the first snap I'm not going to believe that the steak will come to an end. Favre is going to have plenty to say in this decision and his impulsive nature makes it hard to believe that what he told people on Sunday will definitely be true on Monday night.
