I've spent a lot of time on Leech Lake fishing and the lake is known as a walleye factory. But, the perch fishing is fantastic as well and I just had a great time fishing for them this past week. Consant action and great for the frying pan, these finatical fish are a blast. If you want to entertain your kids or your neighbor's kids, then this is the fish to fish for.

We all just had a blast watching these fish bite as we were fishing them in 4 to 6 feet of clear water. You could take it away from the smaller ones and let the bigger ones take the bait. Sorting was the key as 8 to 10 inchers were the ones to keep. Nothing huge, but fun.

Our tackle was pretty simple... light action rod, line, and a small #2 hook, X-Change Jig tipped with a minnow. Lower it to the bottom and work up towards the surface. We would drift with the wind and if the wind was too strong, then we would anchor.

Try it sometime.. it can become addiciting! Oh, and by the way, we caught several walleyes between 24 to 26 inches, so that was a great time

as well.
