East metro leaf-watchers and errand-runners had better plan ahead this weekend or risk getting caught up in a traffic tangle in Lino Lakes, caused by closures of Interstate 35E and Anoka County Road 14 where the two roads meet.

The county road span across the interstate will be closed from Friday evening until Monday morning, along with the stretch of freeway underneath it from the I-35 junction to County Road J. This will allow for demolition of the old bridge and for the construction of ramp connections to the new County Road 14 bridge.

Here's how the closures will proceed:

• At 9 a.m. Friday, the off-ramp from southbound I-35E to County Road 14 will close.

• At 7 p.m., the County Road 14 crossing at the interstate, along with the rest of the ramps at the junction, will close.

• At 10 p.m., I-35E will close in both directions between County Road J and the I-35 junction (that is, where I-35E and I-35W come together).

The roads are scheduled to reopen by 5 a.m. Monday, weather permitting. For traveler information, dial 5-1-1 or visit www.511mn.org.
