I'm in the Target Field press box tonight, wondering what will happen if the Twins win at 10 p.m. and have to decide at 11 whether to leave the ballpark or wait to see whether the White Sox lose, clinching the division title for Minnesota.

We're hearing the Twins will not celebrate in the clubhouse tonight, that they'll head out and leave the celebrating for another day, or at least a more private setting.

As I'm typing, the Indians lead the Twins, 4-1, so my preferred scenario may occur: That would be the Twins losing tonight, the White Sox losing later, and then the Twins having a chance to clinch on Wednesday afternoon at Target Field.

That would be a win-win. They'd be able to celebrate all night before leaving on Thursday for Detroit. The fans would get to savor the moment. The Twins would get to celebrate on the field, at Target Field, and fans could head downtown and savor the day afterward.

Don't you like the sound of that?

Other stuff:

-I'm hearing the Vikings are going hard after Vincent Jackson. I don't know if they can get a deal done, but I'm hearing they're going after him hard.

-Band note: Media Jackals, the band I play in with 1500espn's John Heidt, CCO-radio's Tommy Mishke, GR Anderson and Curt Warolin, will play at about 7:45 p.m. on Saturday at O'Gara's Garage. We're playing as part of the events surrounding my buddy Mike McCollow's ``A Mid-Summer Night's Run." (Google it; it's for a good cause and should be a lot of fun. Or email Mike at mike.mccollow@mac.com.)

Media Jackals will open for Beautiful Noise. The Garage is a cool venue, so come out and heckle Heidt.

-Programming notes: In addition to being on every afternoon at 2:40 p.m. on 1500espn, I'm hosting Garage Logic this week. So Thursday and Friday I'll be on with Patrick Reusse from 2:40 to 4, then I'll handle Joe Soucheray's show 'til 6.

This Sunday, we'll have The Ron Gardenhire Show on at 9:30 a.m., followed by an abridged version of Sunday Sports Talk. We're on 10-11, then yielding to Twins pregame programming, with the team in the Eastern Time Zone.

Wednesday, I'll be debating Ron Coomer on the FSN pregame show, so I'll probably be on the air around 11:40 or so.
