Jesse James Days run today through Sunday Defeat of Jesse James Days begins today, marking the 134th anniversary of the James-Younger Gang's ill-fated bank robbery in Northfield.

The festival is the largest volunteer-run celebration in Minnesota, according to its organizers, and estimated annual attendance is 150,000. It runs through Sunday.

Events include reenactments of the robbery (voted best western reenactment in the country by True West Magazine), an original musical theater performance, a three-day rodeo, parades, a carnival, a craft show, a vintage baseball game and more. Event buttons, required for admission to some events such as the classic car show, concerts in the entertainment center and the square dance, are available for $4 at retail establishments in Northfield. General admission is free.

BURNSVILLE

String players sought for orchestra A south-metro community orchestra is looking for adult string players to join its chamber ensemble and "La Beau Musica" groups.

StringWerks, a program of Burnsville Community Education, offers group lessons for musicians of almost every age and ability level.

Rehearsals begin at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Eagle Ridge Junior High School.
