The Vikings had six players not on the field for practice Monday -- cornerback Chris Cook, running back Toby Gerhart, linebacker J Leman, center John Sullivan, defensive tackle Jimmy Kennedy and wide receiver Logan Payne.

Cook and Gerhart both suffered knee injuries in Saturday's game against Seattle. Both downplayed their injuries afterward. Gerhart said his right knee got bent backward in a pile and he didn't return, which he called precautionary.

Cook said he suffered a "ding" early in the third quarter. The Vikings have a short week with their fourth preseason game on Thursday so it's unclear if the two rookies will be available.

Sullivan returned to practice last week after a long absence because of his calf injury so not sure if experienced a setback. As we've written the past few days, it seems likely that Anthony Herrera will open the season as the starting center. Sullivan has a ton of ground to make up physically after missing almost all of training camp.

We still don't know the nature of Kennedy's injury. Payne was limping in the locker room after the game and he was watching practice on the sideline today.

We have media access after practice so check back for updates.
