New York Sen. Chuck Schumer will headline the DFL Founders Day fundraising dinner in October.

Schumer will headline the event, which draws about 1,000 of the party faithful, on Oct. 3. Last year, Maryland Gov. and current Democratic presidential candidate Martin O'Malley was the headliner.

Schumer has been on Capitol Hill since 1980. He was first elected to the U.S. Senate in 1998 and is now the No. 2 Democrat at the Capitol. He was in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1980 to 1999.
