The two leading candidates for governor are both on the road Monday, as their campaign enters its final month.

Gov. Mark Dayton is in Duluth. As he has done frequently in recent weeks and months, the governor is bypassing political events in favor of official appearances. He's scheduled for an early afternoon stop at Congdon Park Elementary School, where he'll visit an all-day kindergarten classroom. Dayton has heavily touted his support for funding to expand all-day kindergarten access.

Dayton is also slated to speak at a late-afternoon rally aimed at stopping the closure of a mail processing plant in Duluth.

His Republican challenger, Jeff Johnson, is also in greater Minnesota. Johnson is scheduled to greet voters at a Dairy Queen in Warroad in the morning. That's followed by a news conference in the town of Eldred, near Crookston, where Johnson will contrast his vision for greater Minnesota with that of Dayton.

Later in the day, Johnson has a roundtable discussion and fundraiser in Thief River Falls, hosted by state Rep. Dan Fabian, and an early-evening live interview on Fargo-Moorhead television.

Two new polls released over the weekend both showed Dayton at or above 50 percent support, and leading Johnson by more than double digits.
