Minnesota GOP and DFL heads tangle on Twitter over religion, racism

The leaders of Minnesota's Republican and Democratic parties tangled on Twitter Wednesday and Thursday over religion and racism. It began with a tweet from DFL Party chair Ken Martin:

To which Republican Party Secretary Chris Fields responded:

And then Fields and Martin got into it:

(Last week Fields had said that he did not find offense in an Facebook image that used the slave trade to make a point.)

After an evening of back and forth, Martin and Fields let it drop.

But Republican Party chair Keith Downey picked up the fight on Thursday morning:
