Rhonda Sivarajah and Matt Look, the Anoka County Board's chairwoman and vice chairman, said they're interested in running for Michele Bachmann's U.S. House seat. Bachmann, a four-term Republican, announced last week that she will not seek a fifth term next year.

"It is something I am considering," Sivarajah said. "But I need to give it a great deal of thought with my family."

Sivarajah, a county commissioner for more than a decade, was a Republican candidate for lieutenant governor in 2010. She is highly regarded among the county's fiscal conservatives, having led a board that passed a 7.4 percent tax levy reduction in 2012, followed by a 1 percent reduction this year.

Look, a former Ramsey City Council member, is viewed as a rising star among county fiscal conservatives. He said he received several calls suggesting that he run for the Bachmann seat. He said he will "keep my options open" and consult with his family. "There's plenty of time," he said.
