Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter reports that 11 candidates for governor in 2010 have confirmed that they will participate in tonight's public forum.
The forum starts at 7 p.m. and will take place in Alumni Hall in the O.J. Johnson Student Union. The event will also be streamed live on the Gustavus website.
An 11th participant was added over the weekend, when a representative for Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak said the DFLer will attend, Gustavus spokesman Matt Thomas said this morning.
The other officially declared candidates participating are: Margaret Anderson-Kelliher (DFL), Tom Bakk (DFL), Leslie Davis (Republican), Susan Gaertner (DFL), Mike Jungbauer (Republican), Steve Kelley (DFL), John Marty (DFL), Peter Roess (Green Party of Minnesota), Tom Rukavina (DFL) and Chris Wright (Grassroots Party of Minnesota).
The forum begins with candidates giving a five-minute opening statement highlighting higher-education policy.
Audience members are also being invited to submit questions.
Alumni Hall doors will open at 6 p.m., and candidates will be available to speak with the news media and constituents at this time.
Gustavus has also issued this statement: "In keeping with the educational nature of this event, the college will encourage audience members to respect all candidates by remaining silent while candidates are speaking. The college reserves the right to remove disruptive individuals at any point during the event."
