A poll shows Gov. Tim Pawlenty running far behind President Obama in a head-to-head match-up for 2012.
The national survey by Public Policy Polling shows Obama leading Pawlenty 50 percent to 30 percent -- the weakest performance by far among the four presumed Republican candidates in hypothetical contests posed by the polling firm.
Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee ran strongest against Obama, trailing him by 5 percentage points, followed by former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney and former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.
The firm called Pawlenty "a blank slate," with 72 percent of poll respondents saying they have no opinion of him.
The automated telephone poll contacted 766 registered voters from Oct. 16-19. It has a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.

Governor: Tim Pawlenty
One of only a few prominent Republicans to win a competitive re-election contest in the Democratic sweep of 2006, Tim Pawlenty is widely seen as politically shrewd and naturally likable.
