MINNESOTA'S POLITICIANS PAY THEIR RESPECTS

Former Vice President Walter Mondale, Sens. Amy Klobuchar and Al Franken, all Democrats, and former Rep. Jim Ramstad, a Republican, were among the wide array of politicians who paid personal respects to the Kennedy family. Ramstad, a personal friend of Rep. Patrick Kennedy, D-R.I., the late Democratic senator's son, spent time with the family for several days at public and private events, including a family dinner of about 30 people. "I'm here as a friend. ... Friendship trumps politics," he said. Ramstad will be in Boston today for the funeral, as will Klobuchar and Franken. Mondale attended Friday night's private service.
