ST. PAUL - Sen. Norm Coleman has picked up the endorsement of a labor union that endorsed his opponent six years ago.
The Carpenters Union is Minnesota's largest construction union, with more than 13,000 members in Minnesota.
The group endorsed Paul Wellstone in 2002, but the group's political director (Kyle Makarios) says the union decided to go with the Republican this time.
He says Coleman has supported many of their goals, including more spending on infrastructure and requiring federal contractors to pay the prevailing local wage instead of importing cheaper labor.
Franken has racked up endorsements from most of the state's largest labor unions. On Thursday his campaign announced that he's been endorsed by another construction union, the Minnesota Building and Trades Construction Council.
Governor: Tim Pawlenty
One of only a few prominent Republicans to win a competitive re-election contest in the Democratic sweep of 2006, Tim Pawlenty is widely seen as politically shrewd and naturally likable.
