Gov. Tim Pawlenty, who has been the subject of intensifying speculation that he could be John McCain's choice as his vice-presidential running mate, will step up to the podium of the nation's leading national media venue next month.
In the meantime, the Minnesota Republican this afternoon will be at Bobby and Steve's Auto World at France Avenue and Interstate 494 in Bloomington to discuss McCain's plan for addressing gasoline prices and increasing domestic oil production.
Pawlenty will speak at a National Press Club luncheon in Washington, D.C., on Aug. 6, the club has announced.
Pawlenty, whose state will host the Republican National Convention for four days starting Sept. 1 in St. Paul, recently completed his term as chairman of the National Governors Association.
The Press Club said that Pawlenty's topic at the luncheon will be "Sam's Club Republicans," outlining his view on how he believes his party needs to address the needs of this voting demographic.
