Bill to honor Korean War vets heads to governor

Last update: April 30, 2008 - 9:19 PM

Minnesota is on the verge of honoring Korean War veterans every July. The Senate voted unanimously Wednesday to establish Korean War Armistice Day on July 27. The House approved the legislation Monday, and it now heads to Gov. Tim Pawlenty. The bill would recognize the July 27, 1953, armistice agreement that ended the war between North and South Korea, with the U.S. fighting on the South's side. More than 700 Minnesotans were killed in battle in the Korean War.
