Pawlenty's immigration crackdown

By executive order:

• Train state troopers on the Canadian border to assist with federal customs enforcement.

• Increase Minnesota's cooperation with federal immigration agents in fighting violent transnational gangs and child predators.

• Review 11 million Minnesota driver's license photos for possible duplication.

• Require new state workers and businesses with state contracts to confirm immigration status.

If approved by Legislature:

• Require municipalities to end their "sanctuary laws" or face cuts in state aid.

• Increase penalties for identification theft, human trafficking and employers who knowingly hire illegal immigrants.
