Extra-inning election leads to bobbleheads

Last update: March 21, 2009 - 9:19 AM

Individual tickets go on sale Saturday for St. Paul Saints home games this season, and the never-ending U.S. Senate seat battle between Norm Coleman and Al Franken is giving the fun-in-the-sun minor league baseball team a ripe marketing opportunity.

In a knock-off of the "Sesame Street" vampire character Count von Count, the Saints will be giving away Count von "Re"Count dolls to the first 2,500 fans at their home game May 23 vs. the Sioux Falls Canaries.

The doll's head will have Coleman's face on one side and Franken's on the other.

In announcing the promotion, the Saints joshed that the final score of the May 23 game "will not be official until sometime in mid-June."
