Delegate math

Last update: March 5, 2008 - 8:28 PM

1,566 Barack Obama's delegates

1,462 Hillary Rodham Clinton's

2,025 needed for nomination

611 pledged delegates remaining in 12 contests

12 Delegate-gain Clinton won Tuesday overall; 12 are still to be awarded.

86 Number of delegates Clinton is behind, including her 40-odd vote lead among superdelegates.

70 percent is what Clinton must win in rest of contests to stay competitive, AP says.

796 total superdelegates, who can change their minds until the convention.

349 superdelegates remain uncommitted, enough to swing the nomination if they all choose the same candidate, which is unlikely.

26 delegates yet to be given in New Mexico; number John Edwards won before dropping out.
