Third march on RNC announced
Protest marches on the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul have already been scheduled for Sept. 1 and 2.

The protest calendar for the Republican National Convention is starting to fill up.
The Anti-War Committee, a Twin Cities peace group, said Tuesday that it will march to the Xcel Energy Center on Sept. 4, the last day of the GOP convention. That's the third march on the convention site that's been announced for the four-day event.
The Anti-War Committee is a member of a local antiwar coalition that long ago said it will hold a Sept. 1 march and expects to draw tens of thousands of demonstrators. Another group more recently detailed plans for a Sept. 2 "poor people's march" that could also attract thousands.
Meredith Aby of the Anti-War Committee predicted the Sept. 4 march will be attended by about 2,000. The group said it will be smaller because many protesters will have left by then.
Aby said police issued her group a permit July 1 that says the Sept. 4 march will be from 3 to 5 p.m. from the State Capitol to the Xcel.
Demonstrators want to be near the Xcel when Sen. John McCain becomes the nominee for president, so Aby said they will start between 4:45 and 5 p.m. and march on the sidewalk, if necessary, to get to the public viewing area. That's an area set aside by the police for protests throughout the week. She said her group doesn't need a permit to use the sidewalk. But she said she is hopeful the group can negotiate with the city to use the street to get to the viewing area.
Tom Walsh, a St. Paul police spokesman, said he was unaware of the protest and thus unable to comment.
