WASHINGTON — A $1.1 trillion spending bill has cleared a procedural hurdle in the Senate and is headed toward passage.

The vote on Saturday night was 77-19 and sets the stage for passage of the long-term funding bill. Once passed, the bill will head to President Barack Obama for his signature.

The bill provides funds for nearly the entire government through the Sept. 30 end of the current budget year.

The Senate will be back at work on Monday to deal with remaining items on its lame-duck agenda.
