Major networks begin their coverage at 6 p.m. today. Most, if not all, of the TV networks plan to call the race once a candidate hits 270 electoral votes, regardless of whether all the polls have closed.
The first clues about how things are going will come when voting ends at 6 p.m. CST in Georgia, Indiana and Virginia. If Barack Obama wins any of the three, he could be on his way to a big victory. If John McCain sweeps them, he could be headed for a comeback. Other races to watch: Ohio and North Carolina closing at 6:30; Florida and Pennsylvania among 15 states and Washington, D.C., at 7 p.m.
