Mayor Chris Coleman highlighted education, downtown development and work on a light-rail corridor as signs of progress in the city today during his third State of the City address.
The mayor said the city has been able to move forward despite challenges such as tight budgets and the national foreclosure epidemic.
Coleman said that with the help of various partners the city is making progress on the Central Corridor light-rail line, hospital expansion projects, downtown development and education initiatives.
"We are rightfully proud of the progress we've made over the past two years," Coleman said during the address at the new Wilder Center at Lexington and University avenues. "We have changed the way the city does business by working together to overcome challenges."
Coleman also said he will hold five community meetings to discuss the city's progress and issues with residents. The meetings are:
