In a speech that mentioned buffalo shooting and a beauty pageant, former Senate candidate and buffalo farmer Monte Moreno endorsed former rival Julianne Ortman late in the evening as fourth ballot results were announced at the Republican state convention in Rochester.

The balloting showed all three remaining Senate candidates -- Ortman, businessman Mike McFadden and St. Louis County Commissioner Chris Dahlberg --  gaining votes.

The candidates needed 1,171 votes to reach 60 percent and endorsement. None reached that mark:

Here are the results:

Chris Dahlberg: 44.2 percent

Mike McFadden: 31.8 percent

Julianne Ortman: 23.2 percent

274 ballots held no endorsement. Stay tuned for Round 5.

The distribution and counting of each round of balloting has taken about an hour. Early in the evening, Dahlberg had predicted between eight and 10 ballots would be needed.
