Many GOP House members pretended to read newspapers as the vote was taking place on the bonding bill as a show of defiance for the DFL majority bringing up a bonding bill in a non-bonding bill year.  Members defeated the bonding bill 76-56, it needed 81 votes to pass.

 

Many GOP House members including Minority Leader Kurt Daudt pretended to read newspapers as the vote was taking place on the bonding bill.

 

House GOP staff members watched the voting board as members defeated the bonding bill 76-56, it needed 81 votes to pass.

 

House DFL staff members watched the opposite voting board counting votes and doing the math as members defeated the bonding bill 76-56, it needed 81 votes to pass.

 

Rep.  Alice Hausman, chair of the House Capitol Investment committee defended the bonding bill which was later defeated.
