April revenue better than expected

Minnesota collected $153 million more in revenue than than expected last month.

The monthly Minnesota Management and Budget report on revenue collections found that April's tax revenue was almost 10 percent higher than originally projected. The results are preliminary, but indicated that the state took in $132 million more in individual income tax revenue and $28 million more in corporate income tax than the February forecast, while sales tax and other revenue sources were lower than projected.

In all, Minnesota collected $1.74 billion in April. Overall revenue for 2013 is $298 million higher than projected.
