The group trying to legalize same-sex marriage is expecting about 2,000 supporters at a State Capitol rally on Thursday.

Minnesotans United is hosting the Freedom to Marry Day rally on Valentine's Day as it begins to ramp up its statewide push to legalize marriage between gay and lesbian couples.

Speakers will include the Rev. MacArthur Flournoy, faith director of the successful 2012 Marylanders for Marriage campaign; the Rev. Grant Stevensen, former faith director of Minnesotans United for All Families; and state Sen. Scott Dibble, DFL-Minneapolis.

The event will begin at 3 p.m.

Minnesota for Marriage, the group fighting to prevent legislators from redefining marriage, is holding a similar event on March 4.
