Minnesota's lieutenant governors sometimes have trouble getting attention. After all, their most important duties only kick in if tragedy befalls the chief executive.

But, at least for a day, Lt. Gov. Yvonne Prettner Solon will get all the attention she may desire.

She plans to join the U.S. Army Parachute Team in skydiving next Tuesday, landing at on the Capitol mall. She will do it, her office said, as a "show of support for the men and women who serve our nation in uniform." Her office said she will, "jump from an altitude of 12,500 feet and fall at a rate of 120 miles per hour before making a safe landing on the lower mall."

"I am honored to join the Golden Knights in this public demonstration of support for those who selflessly serve our country, at home and abroad," Prettner Solon said in a statement.

She will take off with the team at 1:30 p.m.. from St. Paul's Holman Field and parachute down to the Capitol at 2:20 p.m.
