Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney is coming to Minnesota for a high-dollar August 23 fundraiser.
The invitation for the evening Minnetonka Beach event suggests donations from $50,000 down to $5,000 per couple.
Proceeds from the event will go to Romney Victory, a joint fundraising committee with the first $2,500 per person going to Romney's campaign committee for his primary campaign and the next for his general campaign, with the Republican National Committee getting the next $30,800 and the Idaho, Massachusetts, Oklahoma and Vermont Republican parties splitting the rest, according to the invitation.
Minnesota's Republican mainstays are event co-hosts, including former Gov. Tim Pawlenty, and former U.S. Sens. Rudy Boschwitz and Norm Coleman.
Last month, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie came to Minnesota to headline a Romney fundraiser that featured many of the same Minnesota Republicans.
The fundraiser comes a few days before the Republican National Convention starts and the same day the Minnesota State Fair opens, a frequent stop for politicians seeking exposure and maybe a corndog.
