Minnesota Democrat
Amy Klobuchar, facing her first reelection bid to keep her U.S. Senate seat, raised nearly $1 million in the three-month period ending June 30, building on what is expected to be a commanding lead in the money chase against GOP challenger Kurt Bills.
Klobuchar’s campaign said Friday that she has pulled in $950,000 during the second quarter of 2012, giving her an estimated $5.5 million cash on hand.
That compares to Bills, who reported raising $243,300 over the same period.
Details of their fundraising reports are not expected to be made public until after a Sunday, July 15 deadline for reporting to the Federal Election Commission (FEC).
Data posted by the FEC as of Friday indicates Klobuchar has raised more than $6 million so far for the November election.
Bills had raised about $45,567 by last report, indicating a total haul of about $288,000 in his campaign so far.
