Honkala, right, protests a Minneapolis foreclosure

Jill Stein, the Green Party’s 2012 presidential standard bearer, has received more attention for the celebrity she did not pick as her running mate (Roseanne Barr), than for whom she did: Minneapolis-born anti-poverty activist Cheri Honkala.

Honkala, 49, is better known nationally for her political work in Philadelphia, where she made a quixotic run for sheriff last year.
 
But she first made her mark in the Twin Cities fighting home foreclosures and trying to match abandoned houses with homeless families.
