By 4:30 p.m. Monday, the Department of Employment and Economic Development had received about 90 applications, competing for a share of $47.5 million in economic development grants.

Agency spokesman Monte Hanson said the staff is still going through the list to get a firm count. At least 30 of the applications came in on the day of the deadline.

Among Monday's applicants was the city of St. Paul, which is hoping for $27 million to build a new ballpark for the St. Paul Saints. The city has released part of its proposal to the state. The full application is hundreds of pages long, said city spokesman Joe Campbell.

A full list of the applicants, how much they've requested and what they hope to do with the state funds will be available Tuesday.

UPDATE: St. Paul's full 504-page grant application is now available to read online here: http://bit.ly/LDelyu
