Michele Bachmann may be out of the race, but her name will still be on today's GOP presidential primary ballot in South Carolina. So reports former Strib D.C. bureau colleague Jeremy Herb, now at The Hill newspaper. The Hill also notes that ex-candidates Rick Perry, Jon Huntsman, and Herman Cain remain on the ballot, having paid the $25,000 or $35,000 filing fee to the South Carolina Republican Party. Former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty also paid the fee, but his name isn't on the ballot. Nor does he get his money back. Matt Moore, the state party's executive director and a former Pawlenty campaign official, told The Hill Saturday that Pawlenty was not refunded the $25,000 filing fee he paid before the first Republican debate in May 2011. "It was very clear on the form it was not refundable," Moore told The Hill. Pawlenty was one of five candidates in the first debate, but he dropped out of the race in August after getting edged in the Iowa straw poll by Bachmann, who entered the race in June. Pawlenty has since endorsed former Gov. Mitt Romney. Bachmann has endorsed no one.
