Republican Senate challenger Dan Severson improved his fundraising this past quarter, but he and the other Republicans vying to take on Sen. Amy Klobuchar are still miles behind the Minnesota Democrat in fundraising.

Severson leads the Republican challengers with $35,700 collected from July through September, according to election reports filed with the Senate.

St. Bonifacius City Council member Joe Arwood announced that he raised $10,500 in the third quarter, though his report has not yet been posted by the Senate or Federal Election Commission. Bob Carney Jr., who also ran against Tom Emmer in the 2010 gubernatorial GOP primary, has yet to hit the $5,000 fundraising threshold requiring reporting with the FEC.

All of those figures are nowhere near Klobuchar, who raised $1 million in the third quarter and has $4 million in her campaign war chest. Severson has $27,800 cash on hand and Arwood has $7,100.

Severson's $35,700 is still better than last quarter, when the 2010 GOP Secretary of State candidate raised $3,700.

Severson campaign has $6,300 in debt to the candidate, as Severson loaned his campaign $3,000 and self-paid another $3,300 in expenses, according to his FEC filing.
