Presidential candidate Michele Bachmann condemned the Arab Spring as an outgrowth of President Obama’s “weakness” in the face of Arab hostility towards Israel.
Speaking at a GOP fundraiser Thursday in a barbecue restaurant in Concord, N.C., the Minnesota Republican accused Obama of abandoning Israel, making a historical analogy to the fall of the Shah of Iran during President Jimmy Carter’s presidency.
“You want to know why we have an Arab Spring?” Bachmann said. “Barack Obama has laid the table for an Arab Spring by demonstrating weakness from the United States of America. The Number One duty of the president is to be the commander in chief.”
What some see as a yearning for freedom in the Arab world Bachmann sees as the rise of "radical jihad."
