Fresh off a meeting with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, Gov. Mark Dayton planned to meet with Republican legislative leaders at the residence on Summit Avenue in St. Paul in the hopes of breaking the logjam over Minnesota's budget morass.

The GOPers planned to hold a press conference outside the mansion after the meeting and Dayton was to counter with a full hour on Minnesota Public Radio.

Both the House and Senate were planning to convene in the morning, with the Senate taking up the omnibus transportation and highway bill. A conference committee was working through the state government finance bill.

In the afternoon, a Senate committee was scheduled to hear testimony on a hotly-disputed racino bill.

In the most recent sign that presidential politics is starting to seep into Minnesota, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, who just announced his bid, will be in Minneapolis Tuesday night to deliver the keynote speech to the Minnesota Family Council.
