One of the clips former Gov. Tim Pawlenty used in a video responding to President Obama's reelection announcement on Monday showed liberal New York Times columnist Paul Krugman saying: "Washington has given up on the jobs picture."

So do Pawlenty and Krugman agree on what's hampering the economic recovery?

Not even close.

Krugman, like Pawlenty, has been critical of the Obama administration's economic policies, but Krugman believes the government needs to spend more money — not less — to spark a recovery.

Not surprisingly, Krugman hammered Pawlenty in a blog post titled "I think Pawlenty Misunderstands me."

"So, to clarify," Krugman wrote, "nobody in Washington is doing anything about job creation. However, Republicans are working quite hard on job destruction."
