Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak visited the White House with a group of mayors on Thursday for a meeting with President Obama and Vice President Joe Biden.

Rybak was one a dozen mayors invited to discuss economic and employment conditions in cities with the president.

The meeting also presented Rybak another potential opportunity: the chance to lobby Obama to pick Minneapolis for the 2012 Democratic National Convention.

Rybak said he did not — in part because Charlotte Mayor Anthony Foxx, whose city is also a finalist, was in the room, too.
